I highly recommend signing up to Hot Iron magazine, at http://www.walfords.net/ordering.htm it's free and full of info on homebrewed gear, tools and circuits. A bit like G-QRP's SPRAT. That said, the last one was a 20 MB Word Doc (2 MB PDF)
@m0puh I'm not even sure how a 20MB file got into my mailbox but I really hope sending it out as a word document was in error!
@M0TDN Heh, indeed. The last one I got was a PDF and when I converted this one into a PDF it was a lot smaller!
@m0puh iirc there was a changeover in editor wasn't there? perhaps this is the first one to be sent out by the new guy
@M0TDN Ahh right, that would explain it. This is the first "proper" issue I've had since subscribing. Last one I got was a back issue I asked for. I love these construction mags but I'm still a newbie!
@m0puh same here, most of it is still way ahead of me but they are good for a little inspiration
@M0TDN Exactly! It would be great to have something to contribute back one day.
@m0puh do you listen to the Soldersmoke podcast? if you like Sprat/Hot Iron it'll likely be right up your street. I started listening before I was licensed, 99% of it was gibberish to me but I found listening to the "shop talk" quite relaxing and now I've learned a lot from it, Bill N2CQR and Pete N6QW are regular contributors to those mags.
@M0TDN I keep seeing it mentioned but I haven't listened yet. I will definitely check it out though, sound great
