Hmm, I think I should use the example APRS-to-Mastodon code from @M0YNG to build my own SOTAWATCH to Mastodon bot on my server, if I can carve out some time to play with it.

Ah, this should not be difficult, at first glance. SOTA spot to Mastodon may be easier than I thought.

Aha! Now able to snag the SOTA spots specifically. Now to figure out how to create a "bot" account on Mastodon.

Working! Follow @sotawatch to get spots. (still working on this, so it may go up and down).

@W9SSN
Nice hack!

Presently, I'm (too rarely, but that is another stoty) using cqgma.org/smartgma/ , which is similar in purpose but a web application.

I'm wondering when one would want a web application and when something in the Fediverse. Leisurely discussing an activation while or after it is going on, maybe? Leaves me a bit puzzled.

Any insights?

@dj3ei @W9SSN @sotawatch The usefulness (for me) of having this in the Fediverse, is seeing it scroll past my screen in my conversations so I can turn on the transceiver and make a contact. I don't leave my radio on all day (work!) but leave a window up on social media.

@ai6yr @sotawatch - Well played sir! I love the innovation on this!

@N0QLR @sotawatch Thanks! Lots of fun to put this together. Also put one together for POTA, but there are too many activations, it's a full firehose.
