Random in-between disaster thoughts:

1. Need a bigger power bank in the shed. 190Ah of AGM + 300W solar panel not quite enough to run the normal complement of computers, was down to only 3 laptops (missed the big screens).
May be able to double (quadruple?) this by going for 200Ah of LiFePo4 instead, because of the vagaries and inefficiency of Lead Acid technology

(for the techies: you can only run down to 50% on AGM before it may damage the batteries. LiFEPo4 can be discharged to 100%. Also, SLA requires 2x energy into it to charge, ie to recharge 50Ah of battery, requires 100Ah of solar/energy into it. LiFEPO4 is much better--50Ah?, 1:1?)

190Ah + 300W AGM really is 95Ah 150W eff. 1/

2. Need to convert the Wi-Fi and FIOS box to DC voltages. 12V? 24V? The efficiency is so much greater than an inverter... (inverters suck).

2/?

3. Even better, run the Wi-Fi and FIOS on a battery backed DC power supply so I don't have to switch over in a disaster, and it just keeps running.

@ai6yr The FiOS boxes and ONTs used to run on a 12v backup battery, so this should be very doable. They moved us to an eero wifi last year; those are 5v I believe. Easy enough to find a 12v/5v DC/DC converter.

@W6KME The next box up the chain from the ONT is 12V, and then my WiFi access point is on POE 24V. So, 12V to 24V buck converter probably (unless the device will run on 12V... some do). So much more efficient than a DC to AC UPS.
