Dammit. Looks like my modem power supply has failed.

Where does one get a 9v power supply from these days? Not maplin...

Hello everyone!

Thanks for the add to this instance. I drive airplanes to pay the bill and support my two hobbies/habits. I am an avid cyclist, with mountain biking being my passion, and a general class ham.

I love to meet new people and try new things, especially when it comes to new modes on the radio. Currently active on the three main digital modes, DMR/C4FM/D-Star, as well as FT8 and SSB when the bands permit.

Looks like the pin marked RXD was not, in fact, Received Data.

I have added a wire which does now connect from the speaker to the mic socket, and removed the internal speaker in the process.

Now I have an orange light!

And I have received the messages typed on the other radio computer combo to this new radio computer combo!

Nothing received on the remote end though πŸ˜”

Well this is frustrating.

Got the -Pi connected to the radio, but it doesn't seem to listen.

I have another radio that tries to connect to it, and replies, but the RX light never turns on and nothing is seen in the axlisten logs :(

Remember how I replaced a smashed screen on my phone?

Well, I broke the replacement not long after, and have been living with a broken screen since.

On Thursday it started visually glitching too, not just cracks and glass falling out.
Then it had a black splodge, and touch was becoming skitty.

Replaced again this morning, now only the left half of my screen works.

Might be time for a replacement phone...

I learned about the Three Gates of Speech today. Before saying/writing something, check if it passes these three "gates":

1. Is it true?
2. Is it necessary?
3. Is it kind?

I'm going to make an effort to keep this in mind from now on.

Well at least I shouldn't have to worry about wear levelling?

The memory on this TNC-Pi is the bottom left chip, 23k.
The sd card was on offer, and is 128gb...

Oh shit, an earth directed Solar Storm ejecting in our direction! Looks like there is some Solar Weather news this week!

Hi everybody here!
I'm an old radio amateur getting license about 25y ago, but I acquired a TX in August last year... So, consider me as a beginner. I try to communicate through with a FT-450D and would be very proud if I'd manage to learn and practice morse.
Thanks for your welcome!

Hi! I've updated my profile to point at my (self owned) primary Mastodon instance.

On the ham front, I (barely) still have HF/VHF/UHF capabilities, all modes.

Primary ham work, when I can, is a next-generation packet protocol. I presented an early version of it to the Utah digital ham conference about a year ago, but simulations showed it to be fatally flawed. A substantially revamped protocol is in development.

Everyone, please welcome @F1RUM !

I think you already use mastodon, so I'll skip the basics, but you might want to pop into the directory (mastodon.radio/web/directory) and have a look at this list of amateurs on mastodon
