Found this wonderful video about a microphone repair person who worked at the RCA. Something that would resonate with ham radio folks who like to homebrew their own equipments..

I wrote a new blog post, about accidentally re-writing my static site generator for #gopher and #gemini (and HTTP/HTML)

I needed to share a video quickly, and ended up using the actual youtube app to cast it to a tv.
There was an advert for google's password manager, tied to your google account.
Made me think of that game developer who got locked out of his google account, and everyone else who has the same.
Now you can add "literally every other account on the internet and possibly even your bank" to the list of things you get locked out of if your google account is blocked.
Delete this malicious Android app from your phone right now
More Android app malware has been found and removed from the Google Play Store, this time in the form of an app called Barcode Scanner.
Researchers found that the app seemed to be legitimate at one time and had accumulated some 10 million installations before the sketchy code was added, turning it into malware.

ok, the magic incantation seems to be
sudo certbot certonly --manual --preferred-challenges dns -d *.yourdomaingoeshere.example
I have been using a wildcard let's encrypt certificate for a real domain I own for infernal stuff on my network for long enough that it's expired.
Now I can't work out how to renew it!
Certain I used DNS and manually set the text record on the real web to validate it before (record is still there) but I cannot work out the desired incantation to renew it and certbot doesn't seem to think it can do DNS.
I started a blog and published a post describing my #Pixie #SOTA experience, just in case it is helpful to other fellow hams: https://ea5iyl.blogspot.com/2021/02/my-first-pixie-sota-experience.html

#wsjt-x now REQUIRES you have en-us locale configured.
This sucks, I don't speak us English, I speak gb English.
Also the error doesn't say anything useful, just a locale isn't working.
also also
"This locale is needed for the new diagnostic logging facility to convert wide character strings to a suitable 8-bit encoding in log files."
Really, that needs US specific language and wouldn't work with GB English, or French, or Arabic?
It kind of worked! Ops were very kind to me: thanks

!
It was hard to pick up their signal and my keying was awful. My antenna connection was flaky, and I broke my Chinese key at ~09:40Z. Nice flat summit for my dipole! I also broke my glasses, but that's not a radio-related accident ;-)
I don't know how long this will work for (will the file get re-created?) but it seems to work for now?
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/vscode.list
