@colo_lee @ai6yr Hell, even when I'm flying commercial I carefully weigh all the moose meat I have.

@W6KME @colo_lee @ai6yr I mean you have to, because they're gonna charge you if it's over 25 pounds...

@W6KME @colo_lee @ai6yr
Normal people have the guide box it up with dry ice and ship it home separately.

I see these interesting comments and know something strange is at the beginning of the thread.

A Piper PA 18 is a small plane, with a maximum 1750 Pounds Gross Weight.

Before takeoff, the pilot has to calculate the weight of the:
plane – empty wt. 800 lb
fuel — 7 lb per gallon
pilot
passenger
cargo. 1,800 lbs 👀

A moose exceeds that weight... or maybe it was a rounding error.

@ai6yr @colo_lee @dougfir @EugestShirley @W6KME This graphic refers to the weight of a whole animal, which is very different from partially butchered quarters or smaller. A moose is still a LOT either way, but fully deboned you’re looking at more like a third of that or even a little less, and I’d think under half even for bone-in quarters and a full head/antlers/cape.
