My dad GM1OPO making contacts in Bearsden, Shotts and Whitburn on 2m from Cademuir (GM/SS-219) near Peebles. 2w from Standard C558 handheld through homemade slim Jim antenna clipped to his stick.

Got another decent reception of SSTV from the space station today. SDRPlay RSP1a on inverted v antenna.

Well that's weird. My weather station running Cumulus software used to tweet wx conditions hourly to @peebleswx@twitter.com, until July 2019 when Twitter changed their authentication to a system that Cumulus didn't support. Haven't changed config since. Suddenly today it's working again?!?!

Picking up CBers from Torquay, Wales, S England on Ch19 through my scanner from Peebles with mini mag mount on car. 11m skip very active.

"Very high activity level". 2 minutes a day to copy my weather station data and reset my aircraft tracker window constitutes "very high activity level"?! It saves me having batteries in 2 keyboards and mice for 2 mins usage a day. It's connected to the same monitor!

Goodbye @teamviewer@twitter.com. I'm not spending £30 a month to access my own secondary personal PC in the same room as me. VNC might be a pain in the arse to configure for phone and PC port forwarding but at least it's free.

Fancy equipment isn’t needed to capture the transmissions from the ISS @Space_Station@twitter.com. 🛰🌎 During the 1045z pass I used my HT, whip antenna, Android phone running Robot36 SSTV decoder app. Here’s a video of the decode. 👍🏻 @issfanclub@twitter.com @RF2Space@twitter.com

Managed to get another decent image copied from ISS pass this morning, using SDRPlay RSP1A, SDRConsole and MMSSTV. Inverted V antenna in garden tuned to somewhere in HF, but, it worked!

Today I'll be with the Galashiels radio club (GM4YEQ/P) up a hill in IO85MM taking part in the PW 144MHz QRP Contest. Hopefully it won't be too hot this afternoon while we're up there.

Managed to get a half-decent decode of ISS SSTV transmission this afternoon. Used SDRPlay RSP1A with inverted-V in the garden (not tuned for 2m!), SDR Console 3 and MMSSTV.

Took my PC out to the garden and used dad's air compressor to skoosh all the dust out of it, particularly from between the CPU heatsink fins. Dramatic reduction in temperature afterwards! Seems like 15°C cooler today compared to before.

No side effects this time after COVID vax second dose. Maybe very slight fever as I feel warmer than usual, but no chills/shivering or lethargy like last time.

Second COVID vaccine dose done. Let's see if I get fluey again this time.

Just saw the latest Starlink train of satellites for my first time. Waiting to see (and hear) the ISS when dad noticed the long line of dots. Then after that passed we saw the ISS cross, and heard various people on the IORS repeater 437.8Mhz, from UK, France, Spain, Italy.

50 minutes later no change and the hard drive light stopped being on constantly so I hit the reset button....
Now it's "updating your system". I only asked for a restart, not an update to 2104 or whatever is the latest build.

Text went weird in Windows 10, presumably graphics driver glitch. Fine, I'll just do a quick restart and that'll fix it....

15 minutes later:

With dad GM1OPO/P at Lauder Common. Hearing YB0AZ Wis from Jakarta in Indonesia clear 5/3 signal with little QSB on 20m 14.190. Dad gave a few calls but not heard (only 5w on the FT817).

10m (and 11m CB) open into Europe from UK.
Unfortunately I'm RX only on anything but VHF/UHF and DMR from home atm.
