Ah yes, because you can't play computer games without a controller specifically decorated to match your gender. Or something.

It's very painful to make voice QSOs in QRP (10W) on 20m.
When I'm on a summit, I hear many many stations but I rarely reach the goal of making a QSO.
I had a discussion with an other operator (on 70cm) and he reported his experience about low bands in same situatuon :

80, 40 and 20m are difficult with less than 50W. He get more fun on 15m and 10m or even 17m in QRP.

What do you think about that?

Idea: Stationary ballon as ad-hoc UHF/VHF repeater. Does anybody know what the legal situation for such things is in Germany? :D

If I can motivate myself a bit I'll be running some JS8Call on 20m and 40m soon.

I want to do some radio but I'm wrecked from a booster shot so I don't have the energy to do actual talking on SSB 🤣

Come say hi if you spot me on air, EI6GSB. I might even send you one of my new QSL cards!

Do you pre-heat your oven before cooking stuff, or do you just turn it on and shove the food in?

Hey #UK 18+ folks. I was able to book my third Covid booster jab today (for tomorrow lunchtime) even though in theory it opens for our age group tmoz.

See if you can book yours in your area:

A decent group of ops showed up on either side of the pond. Time of day was perfect. But the day certainly wasn't: Spotless sun, SF 77, foF2 at least 1 MHz below normal: Bad conditions for 15 meter DX.

See for yourself what still made possible. Admittedly, not all that took part accomplished a DX QSO. I didn't. In more than an hour, I copied exactly one signal attributable to DX.

We'll try again some other time when conditions are average or better.

A friend's dad is going downhill with dementia but still insisting on living alone, but is prone to wandering.

Anyone got anything good, bad, or otherwise to say about this device?

Anyone experienced their just stopping the TX mid transmission?

This happens to me often enough that operating ft8 is a pain as it will do all 15s most of the time, then only do 2s the next time, then maybe 8s, then work OK again.

> "If you want me to make you useful software, pay me. If you use software made by others in their spare time and find it useful, pay them. This should not be a controversial opinion. This should not be a new thing. This should already be the state of the world and it is amazingly horrible for us to have the people that make the things that make our software work at all starve and beg for donations."

The Fediverse relies on users to report anything which breaks the rules, so that instance administrators can take action. (For example, spam, doxxing, hate speech etc.)

You can report a post by clicking on the "..." below it and selecting "Report".

This report goes to your home instance's admin, who can then block the account from that instance.

You can optionally also send the report to the admin of the poster's own instance. If it breaks their own instance's rules too, their admin may delete the poster's account, removing it from the entire fediverse.

Toggle the switch below your report to do this.

I have a spare GPS module that I tried to make my raspberry pi use as a time source, but it doesn't have PPS so doesn't seem to work with NTP.

What are people's thoughts on GPS time syncing?

Is it worth it for FT8 and other time sensitive modes? Or is it only useful if you are going to be operating without a network get an NTP from?
