It's finally happening!

CARA's first fun field day since 2019 is happening this weekend!

Listen out for the club call operating as GX5BK/P and members operating their own kit and call from a real field!

Highlights of the weekend will likely include a family BBQ and Pizza night.

If you are in the area, why not pop up the hill and join us?

We start today and run until Monday 30th August.

Figured I'd make an account for my call, since that is what all the cool kids do.

I'm sure I'm not the only radio amateur to have limited time to enjoy my hobby.

I wonder what tips people have on maximising the fun when I do operate?

Is there a good band/time of day/mode to get awesome DX that I'm missing?
I could justify making time if I knew it will be worth it vs not having any contacts.

Hi there folks! Excited to join this community. I'm Chris (AC6CB). I'm Originally from Canada, but have spent a decade in each of Japan and the US.

By day, I'm a software engineer working on open source; by night I love to poke at electronics, embedded systems, and digital and analogue radio. I've only been licensed one year, so still learning like crazy and I assume will be for decades!

I'm also a big fan of both Linux and FreeBSD.

Hello Everyone, Cale-K4CDN here. Thanks for the welcome-totally new to the platform-left Twitter a few years back.
Look forward to getting plugged in.

The DIY 1/4 wave 20m vertical works like a charm! A very nice antenna for unbeatable 20€ which gave me good reports from G and PT during the tests.

Putting a new repeater into my handheld radio.

I key up, nothing.

Did I get the frequency right? The offset? Swap Rx and tx? Tone? Am I in range? Is it still there?
