@K6JEB hello and welcome! It's great to have you here.
It looks like you know what to do... But let me know if you want any help.

Howdy! Been a ham since 1983. I love CW but operate all modes. Enjoy QRP contests antenna-making DX awards portable and high-altitude balloons kites and drones

My dogs love hanging out in the shack with me. :)

Lately I have been tinkering more with FT8 on a RaspberryPi as well as other modes including APRS and Pat.

72/73 and I hope to work you soon!

I never did an #introductions post on this instance, so I guess I should do that, huh?

I'm a guy in his late 20's who is currently working as a special education teacher. I'm on the autism spectrum and boy howdy, there are days where that really shows. My current special interest is in amateur radio, and I got my amateur general ticket a couple weeks ago. Have had a lifelong interest in video games and computer networking. Am currently studying to get my CCNA.

I also watch the news way too much and you'll probably see me shitpost about Trump from time to time, sorry in advance.

This is it -- the radio bench on a typical day. I occasionally clean and straighten it up -- most times that happens when I can't find something...

and then a moment later... here I am again

Very interesting video explaining the superhet receiver design. Worth a watch for most amateurs I'd say.

Hey gang! Remember to jump on the air today to listen to all the hams who got new gear. I know my local repeaters light up.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
I hope you all have a great day, whatever your plans.

Hey! Starting using Mastodon yesterday. Just learned about it and the term fediverse when I upgraded to 15.

I like the hands-on aspect of ham radio and have made most of my antennas. Currently my focus has been on building and modding a . Mostly I work the digital modes, partially because I have a terrible case of mic-fright I've yet to overcome. 😞

Two other interests are collecting spinning tops and making cocktails. They do go together, don't they?

Trying to work out the best way to get on 2m for the @G5BK Christmas net... Probably easiest to just drive the car up a nearby hill...

It's the winter !
Well done everyone, you're half way through the dark. It might not seem like it, but every day will be better from here out. Remember to take care of yourself during the dark.
Happy solstice everyone!

Apparently there are some meteors 🌠 to look out for too, and a full moon πŸŒ• which is a nice bonus.

I updated my retropie install, and it has messed up the controller mapping, so I can't press the start button.
Guess how you get to the menu that allows you to map the controller?

Hi! VHF+ is the area of ham radio that's caught my interest. I'm building microwave transverters for 33cm (902 MHz) up to 3cm (10 GHz), and have parts for 24 GHz. Although a no-code Tech, I like CW for weak signal work. I don't think my transverters are stable enough for FT8 but I'd like to find out!
